Keep in mind that some of the swimming holes are closed during this time of year. With short trails that are easy, family-friendly and offer pristine views, it’s a must-do for any family trip. Roughly an hour away, it’s a great day trip for a family-stay in Darwin.

Located an hour away, the Territory Wildlife Park offers an action packed day for the whole family. With a mix of natural bush and zoo-type exhibits, you can enjoy walks along the treetop aviaries, around lagoons or stand nose to nose with a 4 metre saltwater crocodile in the aquarium area.

Closer to Darwin accommodation is the Howard Springs Nature Park, 20 minutes away. Here, the whole family can see wildlife like turtles, snakes, barramundi and freshwater fish.
