Depending on the adventure you are up for, you are guaranteed incredible waterfalls and freshwater springs to dive into, as well as beautiful escarpment and historic paintings to explore.

Kakadu National Park

Enjoy a 1km circular walk around Ubirr, exploring the iconic rock art sites which feature important food animals. Find stories of behaviour and law told at the Mabuyu, Narmarrkan Sisters and Rainbow Serpent paintings.

Once you have taken in the cultural significance and history on your walk, venture the 250m climb up the escarpment to enjoy vast views of the flood plains, woodlands and rainforest.

Best enjoyed at sunset as the calls of the Kookaburra’s let everyone know they are home for the evening!

At Yurmikmik walks, there are a number of circuits to self-explore in this region of the Top End! Opting for a shorter route, you can enjoy a 2km stroll around Boulder Creek! Where fruit doves and spangled drongos call home.

Or if you’re up for a bit more of a challenge, the look out walk is a 5km trek where you can take in the view over the South Alligator catchment and the southern hills and ridges!

The Motor Car falls track in a pleasant 7.5km return loop which takes you through the southern hills and ridges. Keep an eye out for wallabies, red-tailed black cockatoos, azure kingfishers and many more amazing birdlife!

As you traverse through the monsoonal rainforest you will reach a beautiful natural pool, Motor Car Falls, to enjoy a plunge into!

Katherine National Park

If you are wanting to explore a hidden gem in Nitmuluk National Park, the 9kn return trek to the Southern Rockhole is sure a treat. This self-walk takes you along the Katherine Gorge, up and down the escarpment and through monsoonal rainforest.

As you reach the rockhole, you will be immersed in a beautiful natural blue pool! Crystal clear and prefect to plunge into to refresh and enjoy a self-packed lunch by!

Hiker’s far and wide come to the Territory for this well-known trek, The Jatbula Trail! This is not for the faint-hearted as it is a 5 day trek with 60km of Nitmuluk National Park to cover.

On the journey you are travelling along an ancient Song Line used by the Jawoyn people. This trail takes you through changing escarpment with monsoon forest, rocky outcrops and ancient rock art to admire along the way.

Throughout the trip you will camp alongside fabulous waterfalls and waterholes, as each afternoon brings about a different pool or spa to sit back and relax in!

80th Anniversary The Bombing of Darwin

On the 19th of February each year, we commemorate the Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin.

In 2022, it will be 80 years ago that Australia faced an unprecedented foreign attack on home soil.

The Bombing of Darwin Day, is a day to reflect on our past and to pay tribute to those servicemen, servicewomen and civilians who were there - those who courageously defended our country, those who selflessly helped others, those who dealt with the aftermath, and those who lost their lives.

The 19th of February 1942 marked the first of at least 64 air raids on the Top End of Australia, which continued until November 1943. In commemorating this day, we are also passing the story on to the next generation.

Step Into the Past!

The 19th of February 2022, for the 80th Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin, saw a new education project using state-of-the-art Augmented Reality (AR) technology launch, to commemorate the stories of service and sacrifice, of civilians and military personnel available on your smartphone device.

The Darwin Remembers project, by Green and Gold Education and True Blue Productions, is inviting tours of the AR experience from the Darwin Cenotaph to the USS Peary along the scenic 1km along the Esplanade. This 3D AR walk involves re-enactments of a dozen former Darwin identities telling stories of sacrifice and bravery in the places where their stories are remembered.

Visitors can see a re-enactment of the sinking of the USS Peary, take a photo with a 3D replica of 3.7 AA gun and follow the stories of Darwin local identities including Iris & Hurtle Bald, Daisy Martin and Jack Mulholland at a r ange of mapped out locations.

Who is Hudson Fysh?

Hudson Apartment Hotels Parap is in a significant WWII and historical aviation precinct. Not only is our hotel appreciably named after a tourism icon and RAAF serviceman, but we are also neighbour to an old QANTAS hangar, surrounded by roads named after significant service people and runways used throughout WWII.

Hudson Fysh is who our name originated from. He fought in the Lighthorse Brigade during WW1 and was squadron leader in the RAAF in WWII. He escorted casualties during WWII along the Darwin to London journey, the longest aviation route travelled! He also was the CEO and Managing Director of QANTAS, was knighted for his services to Australian and international air travel and is considered the founding father of Australian tourism.

Drive along a WWII run-way!

The route Fysh flew in WWII was initially established by Ross Smith and his brother, Keith Smith. They were the first pilots to successfully fly from England to Australia, in 1919 in the Great Air Race! Ross Smith fought in the Lighthorse Brigade during WW1 and has many icons in Darwin named after him, including a road situated on the corner of our property called Ross Smith Avenue. This road was site of Darwin's first civil aerodrome, a serviced airfield used in WWII!

Not only flying this route, was Amy Johnson, a UK icon who began her journey in Croydon, England on 5 May 1930 to Darwin, Australia. She flew roughly 18,000km’s with no radio for 20 days, across land and sea with only a compass and wristwatch to guide her. On 24 May 1930, Amy Johnson arrived in Darwin, on the final leg of her solo flight before continuing to Brisbane. Today, you can drive down a road in Darwin named Amy Johnson Avenue!

Eat at a WWII Restaurant!

Admiralty House is home to two restaurants, the award-winning Char Restaurant and The Darwin Club , perfect for a unique seafood experience! No t only do these two things make this location special, but it is also steeped in historical and architectural significance.

The house was originally built by the Commonwealth Principal Architect Beni Carr Glyn Burnett, in November 1937, on the corner of Peel Street and the Esplanade. This had been vacant and in absentee English hands until it was resumed by the Commonwealth that year. From that time, it was the residence for the District Naval Officer. In September 1951 the house was moved from its original position to the present one on the corner of Knuckey Street and the Esplanade.

Having survived both WWII and Cyclone Tracey, Admiralty House is a true survivor; embodying the resilience of the Northern Territory people.

Set within a lush tropical garden landscape, Admiralty House is a sanctuary within the city. Admiralty House is one of only two surviving ‘B Type’ tropical houses in the Darwin central business district, making it a very unique and treasured establishment. Admiralty House - Home

Bass in the Grass is the Territory's biggest music festival, and now attracts festival-goers from right around Australia.

The V8 Supercars will hit the tracks at Darwin's Hidden Valley for an action-packed weekend of racing.

Beer Can Regatta

JUNE 2025

If you want to experience a true Territory tradition, check out the annual Beer Can Regatta at Mindil Beach.

Held every September, this iconic event sees Top Ender's race their boats made out of beer cans across the water. Racing aside, you can enjoy other fun activities including sandcastle competitions, thong throwing and team events.

The Mindil Market stalls will be set up throughout the day, so you can take a wander and grab a bite to eat between races.

It's a day to recognise everything that's great about the Territory. Mindil Beach is the place to be for Territory day, with the Mindil Market stalls set up, a live concert on the beach and fireworks displays.

Darwin Cup

The annual Darwin Cup Carnival is packed with spectacular racing events in the heart of tropical Fannie Bay, right around the corner from Hudson Parap.

Here's why you should come to Darwin in the wet season

If you're not familiar with our unique seasons up North, we have two - the wet season from November to April, and the dry season from May to October.

The names are a clear giveaway, with the wet season being the rainy time of year and the dry season being when we get next to no rainfall.

The dry is typically when most tourists come to the Top End, but many locals will argue that the wet season is in fact the superior season.

Catch a million dollar barramundi

The Top End has some of the best barramundi fishing in the world all year round, but the wet season is a particularly good time to throw your line in.

The NT's famous Million Dollar Fish Competition runs from October to March, giving fishos the chance to win in a huge pool of prize money. You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a winning barra. Choose from a range of tours that can take you to the best barra spots in the Top End.

Explore national parks at their more lush

The wet season is when our national parks are at their most spectacular. The tropical rains turn the land lush and green, with waterfalls overflowing and an explosion of plant and animal life. There are also significantly less tourists around in the wet, so you can avoid the crowds and enjoy the tranquillity.

Head to Litchfield for a day trip if you're keen to cool off in some swimming holes. Florence Falls, Buley Rockhole and Cascades are open year round.

If you're up for more of an adventure, take a scenic flight in Kakadu to see thundering waterfalls in full flow.

Watch electrifying storms & vibrant sunsets

Darwin is known as the storm capital of Australia, with spectacular monsoonal storms rolling in and lighting up the skies throughout the wet season. Moody clouds in the distance also make for an incredible sunset.

Our favourite spot to watch the storms and sunsets are Nightcliff Jetty, East Point reserve and at the beach-front Ski Club with a cold beer in hand!

Darwin's thriving food scene has been on the rise over the last few years, offering locals and visitors a huge range of places to eat and drink.

Head into Charlie's of Darwin to enjoy a cocktail or gin on the terrace overlooking Raintree Park, before strolling down Austin Lane and stopping in for a bite to eat at Little Miss Korea.

Where to see a Croc in Darwin

The Top End has one of the biggest populations of crocodiles in the world. Both Saltwater and Freshwater Crocodiles inhabit our waterways, with Salties being the bigger and more powerful of the two species.

The average size of a male Saltwater Croc is a huge 5 metres and they can weigh over 500kg - an absolute force of nature.

Getting to know our crocs is a must-do if you really want to immerse yourself in the Territory. If you’re visiting Darwin, there are lots of nearby places to get up close and personal with these prehistoric creatures.

Crocosaurus Cove

In the heart of the Darwin CBD you’ll find some of Australia’s largest Saltwater Crocodiles. Crocosaurus Cove on Mitchell Street has a bunch of unique croc experiences for the whole family.

Cage of Death - Fancy swimming with crocs? The infamous Cage of Death at Croc Cove is not for the faint hearted. You’ll be plunged into a pool with one of Australia’s biggest apex predators for an adrenaline-pumping experience you won’t get anywhere else.

Big Croc Feed Show - Starting with a ‘Bite Force’ demonstration, learn about Salties feeding habits and how they’ve survived for over 200 million years in the wild. Show times are at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Fishing with Crocs - This fun family-friendly activity gives you the chance to feed young Freshwater Crocs from your fishing line! Watch how they catch their prey and get an insight into their behaviour in the wild.

Jumping Crocodile Cruise

This famous crocodile tour takes you up one of the most croc-filled scretches of Adelaide River. This easy day trip is just an hour drive from Darwin along the Arnhem Highway.

The 1 hour cruise gives you the chance to see powerful Salties in their natural habitat. Watch the feeding demonstration as the guides entice crocs out of the water so you can get an up close view of these impressive creatures. Learn about croc biology, their behaviour and the diverse floodplain ecosystem they inhabit.

Museum and Art Gallery

Just down the road from Hudson Parap you’ll find the Top End’s most famous reptile - a 20 foot croc named Sweetheart. While Sweetheart might be taxidermied, his story is a legendary part of Northern Territory history.

In the 1970s, Sweetheart got a name for himself for his tendency to stalk fishermen at a popular Darwin fishing spot. By 1979, Sweetheart ramped up his attacks and it became a major safety concern. Rangers captured Sweetheart, but he tragically died as they tried to relocate him.

Infamous Sweetheart now rests at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and has been visited by millions. You can get free entry into the museum to check him out as well as explore the other displays of unique Territory wildlife.

Territory Wildlife Park

Located a 40-minute drive from Darwin's CBD, this is a hidden gem! Featuring a number of wildlife roaming in their natural habitat is a special sight to see. Catch the bus or wander around this park as you explore the different and everchanging environments!

Don't miss out on featured interactions and shows at the flight deck and feed times. You can even experience an up-close encounter with some amazing creatures!

Lay next to a croc as you wander through the aquarium, it doesn't get much better than that!

Parap Village Markets

Perfectly located right across the road from Hudson Parap, the Parap Markets are a local ritual. Held every Saturday morning from 8am to 2pm (pending good weather in the wet season), these markets give you a mix of ready-to-eat food, arts and crafts and fresh produce.

Darwin has come to be known as the laksa capital of Australia and the Parap Markets really embody that title. There's a historical debate among locals over whether Mary’s laksa or Yati’s laksa is best - we’d argue that both are at the top of their laksa game.

If you’re not into laksa, there’s a whole lot else to choose from. Fresh juice and smoothies are a popular choice, and Ken’s Crepes always has a queue of people waiting patiently for their sweet or savoury crepe.

Mindil Beach Sunset Markets

The Mindil Beach Sunset Market is Darwin’s biggest dry season market. Running every Thursday and Sunday evening from April to October, you can explore over 200 different food, arts and crafts stalls. Unlike Rapid Creek and Parap Markets, you won’t find a whole lot of fresh produce, but will instead have an enormous variety of ready-to-eat food and drinks stalls - Thai, Indian, Chinese, Italian and food from every other corner of the globe.

Make sure you check the times for sunset so you can enjoy an iconic Mindil sunset dinner on the beach.

Mindil Markets are only a short 3km from Hudson Parap, so there are a few ways you can get there. Walk down to East Point road and jump on a Neuron Scooter or Bike, stroll along the beachfront paths, or hop on a bus.

Rapid Creek Market

Get a taste of Southeast Asia at the Rapid Creek Markets, Darwin’s oldest market running every Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 2pm. Known famously for its endless tables of fresh Southeast Asian produce, locals come here to source ingredients they might not find at their nearby Woolworths or Coles. This is a great way to experience a little slice of Asia on your trip to Darwin!

Nightcliff Market

You can wander around the Nightcliff Markets every Sunday morning throughout the year. Just a 10 minute drive from Hudson Parap, Nightcliff is known for its laid back atmosphere and leafy streets. Find a combination of food and drinks stalls, fresh produce and art and craft - again with a big emphasis on Southeast Asian food as Darwin's biggest cultural influence.

These markets are the perfect place for kids, with a playground for kids to play on while parents sit back in the shade with a fresh juice and a bite to eat. You can also enjoy live music every Sunday from great local artists.

Choose your adventure: Litchfield, Nitmiluk and Kakadu

Darwin is your gateway to the Top End’s spectacular natural wonders. People right around the country are drawn to the Territory for it’s wild landscapes and fair share of waterholes.

Litchfield, Kakadu and Nitmiluk are the Top End’s most popular national parks. As a visitor to the NT, it can be hard to know what to expect at each. We’ve given you a run down of the 3 parks so you can choose your Top End adventure.

Litchfield

Just 1.5 hours south of Darwin, Litchfield is the place to go if you want an easy day trip. The park does have a range of camping options, but if you’re short on time it’s an easy way to get amongst Top End nature on your visit.

Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole are the most popular spots, but if you want to escape the crowds we’d recommend exploring Cascade Falls. It’s a lengthier walk to the falls (2.6km return for Lower Cascades and 3.3km return for Upper Cascades) but one of the best ways to see Litchfield. And of course, you’ll be rewarded with a swim in the pristine rock pools!

For those with a 4WD, Tjaynera Falls (Sandy Creek) and Surprise Creek Falls are local recommendations. You’ll also get to experience some awesome river crossings on your way there.

Nitmiluk

Nitmiluk National Park is renowned for its 13 spectacular gorges which wind their way through the sandstone country.

There’s a bunch of different ways you can explore Nitmiluk. Jump in a canoe and take your time to paddle up the gorge, enjoy a cruise (we recommend the dawn and sunset tours) or even check it out from above in a helicopter.

For the adventure seekers, Nitmiluk has some world class mountain biking trails that carve along the top of the gorges. Or, you can opt to do the Jatbula Trail, a 5-6 day hike that traverses the park and neighbouring Arnhem Land escarpment.

Nitmiluk is only 30km out of Katherine, so you can also explore the township while you’re there. On your way back to Darwin, stop at Edith Falls and cool off in the upper pools.

Kakadu

If you want to escape the world for a few days, exploring Australia’s biggest national park might be the best way to do it. Kakadu National Park stretches over 20,000 km2 and is home to some of the most preserved and biodiverse ecosystems in the world.

People are drawn to Kakadu for its spectacular towering waterfalls, escarpments and rich Aboriginal culture and history.

While the dry season (April to October) is the busiest time in Kakadu, the wet season (November to April) is when the park really comes alive. When the rains come, Kakadu transforms into a lush green landscape with overflowing waterfalls and thriving flora and fauna.

One of the best ways to experience Kakadu in the tropical summer is from the air. There are a range of tour operators who run scenic fligths and helicopter tours over Kakadu's biggest waterfalls - Jim Jim and Twin Falls.

While you’re in Kakadu, make sure you check out the Nawurlandja lookout walk and Ubirr Rock for incredible views.

A few local favourites to explore on your trip to the Top End

Cullen Bay

Cullen Bay precinct is packed with places to eat, drink and things to do! Relax and unwind beach-side and enjoy an iconic Darwin sunset with a picnic, or fish and chips on the lawns. Or, opt to dine in at a local cafe or restaurant and enjoy the marina ambience!

Live music is featured some weekends, or a yoga-class or two on the beach-side lawns.

East Point Reserve & Fannie Bay

Casuarina Coastal Reserve

Casuarina Coastal Reserve protects a large coastal area in Darwin's northern suburbs. The Reserve is popular for its white sandy beaches, shady picnic areas, cycle paths, mountain bike tracks and wildlife. World War II artillery observation posts are a reminder of the area's wartime involvement.

Wander further down and you will find Cafe De La Plage or the Surf Life Saving Club, both are perfect options to dine in and are dog friendly!

Berry Springs

Looking to visit one of Darwin's hidden treasures? This is a must-do!

Only a short 40-minute drive from Darwin CBD, this local refreshing spring features luscious picnic grounds with BBQ's and fresh water holes to swim in. Open all throughout the dry season, this beautiful park is local favourite.

Darwin Military Museum

The Darwin Military Museum is located at East Point adjacent to the Defence of Darwin Experience. The site is within a heritage listed area that contains WWII fortifications. The No.2 gun turret is located within the Military Museum and, along with the No.1 gun turret, is one of the major fortifications at East Point.

Darwin Cup Carnival

The annual Darwin Cup Carnival is packed with spectacular racing events in the heart of tropical Fannie Bay. It’s the event of the dry season.

This year there’ll be 8 days of action packed racing and events. Choose from a range of package and marquee options as you soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the Top End's beautiful dry.

Here’s what to keep an eye out for this Cup Carnival:

The Paddock

The Paddock is the newest addition to the Great Northern Darwin Cup. Get classy garden party vibes with DJ entertainment, shaded seating and an antipasto and cheese box upon arrival, as well as food trucks exclusive to the Paddock.

Silk’s Rooftop Bar

One of Darwin’s newest establishments, Silks, has a prime trackside location at the Turf Club and is offering some great package deals for the cup day.

And what better place to watch the racing action than Silk’s Rooftop Bar, complete with canapés and a premium drinks package.

Gala Ball

Wine, dine and be entertained at this year's Darwin Turf Club Gala Ball. Beach side at Little Mindil, indulge in a night under the stars with quality entertainment including Robbie Williams and Billy Joel tributes.

Tickets include a buffet dinner, premium drinks package and of course, the chance to dress up and enjoy the spectacular dry season.

Fashion on the Field

While we love the horse racing, the spectacular carnival fashion is always a stand out each race season. Darwin, and particularly the Darwin Cup, is known for it lively colours and patterns which connect fittingly to our tropical home.

This year, the theme is 'Experience the Difference', so judges will be on the look our for unique interpretations of the theme from head to toe. We're keen to see what Territory fashion has in store.

Crocosaurus Cove

Unsuspectingly located in the heart of the Darwin CBD, Croc Cove is home to some of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles in Australia. It's a must do when you're visiting Darwin.

Want something cool to tell your friends about back home? The infamous Cage of Death at Croc Cove is not for the faint hearted. Available to anyone 15 years and over, you’ll be plunged into a pool with one of Australia’s biggest apex predators - specifically, a 5m saltwater crocodile.

Crocosaurus Cove is the only place in Australia that offers you the chance to dive with a croc. Feel the power and strength of these creatures up close and personal and get some awesome pics while you do it.

If the Cage of Death isn't your thing, the Cove still has a bunch of engaging attractions including a reptile show and fishing with crocs.

Mindil Beach Sunset Market

The Mindil Beach Sunset Market is at the heart of Darwin’s market scene.

Just a short drive or bus ride from Hudson Parap, the markets are host to over 200 different food, arts and crafts stalls. Running from April to October on Thursday and Sunday nights, the markets are a popular spot for local teens to explore.

Check out the locally made jewellery, art and clothing before wandering the food stalls. You’re guaranteed to have a difficult time choosing what to eat - the markets are home to food from all around the globe.

Enjoy an iconic Darwin sunset dinner on the beach and end the night with some much needed dessert - our favourites are the ice cream stall, churros and of course, Darwin's famous Ken’s Crepes.

Darwin Waterfront

The Darwin Waterfront is a popular hot spot for teenagers and young people to swim, relax and soak up the sun.

Recreation Lagoon - The Bali-inspired Beach Club at the Recreation Lagoon is open everyday from June to September. Decked out with day beds and lounges, there’s house music and regular DJs to add to the laid back vibes.

Wave Lagoon - Catch a wave at Darwin’s most popular stinger and croc-free swimming spot - the Wave Lagoon. With 10 different wave patterns and lounges and umbrellas to chill out lagoon-side, you can easily spend a whole afternoon at this Waterfront attraction.

Aqua Park - Check out the Aqua Park if you want a fun obstacle challenge. Slide, bounce and climb your way over this huge floating obstacle course in the middle of the Recreation Lagoon.

Airboat Tours

Feel the rush of an airboat on a Top End airboat tour.

Airboats a great way to explore areas of shallow tidal flats and estuaries because they are designed to float on top of the water, unlike traditional boats. Zip around the harbour, tidal flats and river inlets and get the unique airboat experience. Don’t forget to put your ear muffs on!

Kingpin

Looking for a retreat from the heat? Kingpin Darwin has over 20 bowling lanes, games arcade, laser tag, ping pong tables and more. In short, it’s the ultimate entertainment destination for teens.

Neuron Scooters/Bikes

One of the newest and most popular ways to see Darwin is on an e-scooter or e-bike. Neuron operate around the Darwin CBD, Waterfront and Cullen Bay, and it’s as easy as downloading the Neuron app to get started.

This is also a great way for teens to get around without a car.

Skyline Ferris Wheel

The Skyline Ferris Wheel is Stokes Hill Wharf’s newest resident for the dry season.

Get spectacular 360 degree views of Darwin and surrounds. Grab some lunch at the wharf or catch Darwin’s stunning sunset in the late afternoon. If you’re out and about after dinner, experience the night lights and see the wheel all lit up.

The Story of Hudson Fysh

An aviation pioneer

Hudson Parap is positioned in the centre of the historical aviation precinct of Parap and Fannie Bay. Directly behind is the historical QANTAS hanger which has been converted to a museum. This precinct has hosted such iconic names as Ross Smith and Amy Johnson. Both have had Darwin Avenues named after them.

An iconic name, well known to locals is Hudson Fysh, also having an Avenue named after him.

Hudson Fyshbwas voted one of the 100 most influential Australians of the 20th Century.

Amongst his many achievements, arguably his greatest was the pioneering of air travel, air mail delivery and medical assistance to remote locations in Queensland.

He fought in the light horse brigade during WW1, and later became a decorated gunner in the Australian Air Flying Corps. Just as WW1 was ending, while in Egypt, he trained as a pilot.

On his return to Australia, he was appointed surveyor for landing sites in Australia for the Great Air Race from England to Darwin won by Ross Smith.

After leaving Darwin, Hudson Fysh made his way to Longreach in Queensland. In the company of his pilot during WWI, Captain McGinness, they envisaged the need for a passenger and airmail delivery service, due to the remoteness of outback Queensland. They discussed the idea, obtaining finance from those enlightened by their vision, including their own savings, and major finance from Fergus McMaster. On the 16th of November, 1920, the Queensland and Northern Territory Air Service was born, with the acronym QANTAS. Hudson carried the first paying air passenger in Australia. He was also the founding father of Tourism Australia.

He went on to become the CEO and Managing Director of QANTAS, after the Australian Government bought QANTAS. He retired in 1966 and was knighted for his services to Australian and international air travel.

In 2002, Fysh was inducted into the Pacific Air Travel Association’s Gallery of Legends for ’’personal excellence, integrity and a lifetime contribution to travel and tourism’’.

All three venues are prime spots to watch the iconic Darwin sunsets all year round, with expansive menus and a range of tasty weekly specials.

Parap Tavern

If you want a true Territory pub experience, look no further than the iconic Parap Tavern. Established over 80 years ago in 1937, the pub is a regular watering hole for Darwin locals.

Their menu has all of your pub favourites as well as seafood, salads and tasty share plates.

Silks

Silks is one the areas newest venues with stunning trackside views of the Darwin Turf Club and racing action.

It features a restaurant, outdoor deck, huge rooftop, gaming lounge and sports bar. Check out The Track specials with $15 meal deals every weekday.

Silks also hosts Rooftop BBQ Nights every Friday in the dry season where you can indulge in a smoked BBQ menu under the stars.

Saffrron

Described as authentic yet innovative Indian cuisine, Saffrron is all about reflecting the cultural diversity of Darwin and supporting local eating.

Saffrron is big on sustainability and sources local produce from across the Top End, so you know you’re going to be served fresh food.

We recommend the Barramundi Mooli, made with local Humpty Doo Barramundi. Saffrron is also BYO so grab a bottle of wine up the road at BWS Parap beforehand.

Darwin Railway Club

Hidden in the back streets of Parap, Darwin Railway Club is one of Darwin’s oldest clubs, originally opening for railway workers back in 1974.

The club has evolved over the years to become a social hotspot for the Darwin community, hosting a regular array of musicians and performers.

The rainforest-like beer garden out t he back embodies our tropical lifestyle here in the Top End and is the ideal place to enjoy an afternoon beer and a bite to eat.

Oka Teppanyaki

Appreciate the art of traditional Japanese teppanyaki at Oka Teppanyaki at Parap Village.

As Darwin’s only teppanyaki restaurant, you’re guaranteed a lively atmosphere as you watch the Japanese chefs curate flavour filled dishes.

Your Japanese dining experience is not complete without a bit of Sake, so give the Sake Testing Set a go if you’re feeling brave.

Parap Fine Foods

Parap Fine Foods is an iconic Darwin institution. Established by the Pantazis family over 50 years ago, the store has grown into much more than a corner store - it's a destination for some of Darwin's best local gourmet food and fine wine.

Even better, it's right across the road from the Hudson. We'd recommend getting yourself a picnic from Parap Fine Food's famous deli and heading on down to East Point to enjoy the feast and watch the sunset.

Prickles

Prickles is a traditional Mexican restaurant located in the Parap Village! Choose from burritos, enchiladas, and other dishes that can made vegan by removing cheese and sour cream. Vegan options include bean burritos, bean enchiladas, guacamole, corn chips, bean tacos, salsa, and rice.

Sip a tequila, chuck on a sombrero hat and settle in for a beautiful night of laughs and good food at this funky venue!

Your visit to NT isn't complete without experiencing some uniquely Territorian beer and spirits. Over the last few years, independent brewers and distillers have started crafting delicious concoctions around Darwin using local ingredients.

Find out where you can get a taste of Darwin at favourite local breweries and distilleries.

Willing Distillery

This family-owned distillery curates traditionally distilled spirits with an emphasis on native Australian flavours. With gin as the lead spirit, Willing Distillery has plans to produce vodka and whiskey in the future.

Take a tour of the distillery, enjoy gin tastings, or sit back at the bar with a truly Territorian cocktail - we'd recommend the Bush Negroni or Tropicale which features Mango Shrub and Kakadu Plum.

You can find Willing Distillery in Winnellie, just a short 5 minute drive from Parap and 10 minutes from the CBD.

In the inconspicuous back streets of Coconut Grove, this micro-brewery has become a local favourite for Friday arvo drinks.

Owned and operated by the Brown family, Beaver Brewery is founded on a shared passion for brewing handcrafted beer and a love for relaxed outdoor vibes.

For something extra refreshing, try the Passionfruit Ale or Alcoholic Lemonade. You can also grab a bite to eat from the rotating food trucks.

Charlie's of Darwin

Located in the Darwin CBD, Charlie's of Darwin is a distillery, bar and restaurant all rolled into one.

From the onsite distillery, expect Territory gins featuring local botanicals like Water Lilies, Native Lemongrass and Kakadu Plum.

Charlie's is loved for its vibrant atmosphere. You can sip on a cocktail in the Alfresco area overlooking Raintree Park, or relax in the chesterfield lounge before enjoying a 4-course meal with matching beverages.

One Mile Brewery

Brewing out of a spacious shed in Winnellie, One Mile Brewery serves easy to drink craft beer. The vibrant industrial-style brewery is a little taste of Melbourne in the heart of Darwin's industrial area.

The One Mile story started in the Darwin backyard of Stuart Brown and Brady Bayram. As passionate home-brewers, they experimented with making an assortment of beers, ales and stouts. After realising that Darwin was lacking locally produced beer, they fled the nest and opened One Mile.

One Mile Brewery is open on Thursday and Friday nights, and all day Saturday. Grab a pizza and a brew for a chilled out afternoon amongst Darwin locals.
